Pay-Pal is the only Checkout you can use correct so yo have to go that route or change your website to another provider. Everyone has problems of some sort with the merchant provider. I have Pay-Pal on my site and have no problems with it. I belong to forum which often discusses various checkouts. You will not lose money unless Pay-Pal hold the entire amount which I understand they can do. I understand these are the extreme cases where the card being used was fraudulent and the web owner didn’t respond after being notified and asked for information.
I have included a website where you can join and enter your website. It’s a solid website that helps in Google Searches, Yahoo Searches and also your Alexa rating. Best way to go there is go to my website listed below and click on the link to LinkReferral. Joining will mean additional work for you since there are reviews of other sites involved. But, it alows you to ask any Pay-Pal related questions in an open forum. Trust me you will get answers from all over the world from experienced website owners who know the ins and outs of Pay-Pal.
One additional comment – make sure you have a valid e-mail address and that it works. Setup a secondary address that any Pay-Pal correspondence also gets mailed to. You do not want to miss any valid e-mail from Pay-Pal. Beaware of the “phlishers.” They love the Pay-Pal venders. Never go into Pay-Pal from any e-mail. Always go to their site and log in from there.
Last and least: Most businesses lose money the first several years due to setup costs and other related costs of doing business. It takes time to become established. But until you become established, business will be slow. The current economic climate doesn’t help. Business losses are tax deductable.

Make sure your Pay-Pal linked bank account is swept often – make sure not to keep a lot in that account – reason is – if any customer complains – even if there is no basis for the complaint – PayPal has been known to freeze bank accounts – it’s in the fine print.
